SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — The final day of the St. Mary’s University softball tournament, in San Antonio, Texas, has been cancelled, due to storm systems in the area. Due to other storm systems in the area of the next two days, the games will not be made up. The Eastern New Mexico University softball team was scheduled to play Abilene Christian and Southeastern Oklahoma State.
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — Freshman pitcher Amy Smith (Pasadena, Texas/Pasadena Memorial HS) batted three-for-three and did not allow an earned run over two appearances at the St. Mary’s Tournament, on Friday at the San Antonio ISD Triplex. The Eastern New Mexico University softball team (1-3) fell to Texas A&M-International by a 5-4 score and followed with a 9-5 loss to St. Edwards University.
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — Freshman shortstop Melissa Reynosa (North Hollywood, Calif./Grant HS) paced the Eastern New Mexico University softball team (1-1) with a two-for-three performance and two runs batted in, in a season-opening, 4-1 win over Texas-Permian Basin (0-1), Thursday at the San Antonio ISD Triplex. The Zias dropped a 5-4 decision to St. Mary’s (1-0), despite swiping six bases in the game. Both games were part of the St. Mary’s Tournament.

Precious Herrin (Shreveport, La./ Southwood High School/ Jacksonville College) poured in 19 points off the Eastern New Mexico University women’s basketball team’s (5-12; LSC 3-8) bench and propelled the Zias to their second straight victory over an LSC opponent. With just 1:45 left in the game,
Kiara Tate (Sr., G, Chicago, Ill./ Southridge High School/ McLennan Community College) drained a jumper to give the Zias a five point lead and enough room to grab a 62-59 victory against Texas Woman’s University (9-8; LSC 7-4), Wednesday evening at Greyhound arena. The victory gave the Zias their second consecutive win against the Pioneers at home and their first win against them this season.
PORTALES, N.M. — Since taking over as head football coach at Eastern New Mexico University, about a month and a half ago, Josh Lynn and his staff have been relentless in their attempts to add talent to their roster. In addition to a number of returning All-Lone Star Conference players, Lynn will look to a strong group of newcomers to elevate the Hounds in the LSC standings.

Curtis Wilkinson (Bude, Miss./Eisenhower HS/San Bernardino JUCO) from the Eastern New Mexico University men’s basketball team, has been selected as the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week, for his outstanding performance against Texas A&M-Kingsville and University of the Incarnate Word. The Greyhounds won both games last week and are currently sixth in the LSC standings.
