LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Senior forward
Tori Tucker (Portales, N.M./Floyd HS/Howard College) poured in 30 points in Thursday night's exhibition game at New Mexico State, but the Zias dropped a 79-51 decision at The Pan American Center. Tucker's regular season high was 29 points, set against Tarleton State, last season.
The lead changed hands six times in the early minutes of the game, with ENMU taking its final lead, 8-7, on a Tucker three-point bucket with 2:49 expired in the opening half. Over the next five minutes, the Aggies scored 13 of the next 15 points and pulled away for the win.
Eastern shot 75 percent from the free throw line in the game and held a 12-8 advantage in second-chance points. Tucker hit four-of-eight from three-point range and all six free throw attempts, in addition to grabbing five rebounds.
Dominique Carpenter (Fr., PG, Albuquerque, N.M./Cibola HS) chipped in six points. Sasha Weber paced NMSU with 23 points and grabbed five rebounds.
The Eastern New Mexico University women's basketball team will return to regular-season action, next Friday, to play Texas A&M-International. The contest will be played at The Rock, in Clovis, N.M.
