Galdean Leads Women's Soccer in Setback to #21 Lions

PORTALES, N.M. — Anniah Galdean paced the Eastern New Mexico University women's soccer team (3-11-1; LSC 2-8) with three of the squad's six shot on goal in Sunday's Lone Star Conference matchup. Texas A&M-Commerce (12-4; LSC 8-2) entered the weekend ranked 21st in the country, scored early in the first half and held on for a 3-0 win, at Al Whitehead Field at Greyhound Stadium.
 
The Lions held a10-6 edge in shots during the first half, but managed just one goal. Vicky Back tallied the first goal of the game from six yards out, after taking a free kick from Michelle Kotlik. A&M-Commerce added two goals in the second half, which included a penalty kick for the final goal.
 
Eastern finished with 10 shots, to the Lions 17 overall. Galdean had four of the Greyhounds' shots, followed by two for Baylee Hampton. Marissa Torres made eight saves for Eastern. Caitlin Duty made six saves for Texas A&M-Commerce to earn her 12th win of the season.
 
The Eastern New Mexico University women's soccer team will return to action on Wednesday night, to host West Texas A&M. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. MT.
