Eastern New Mexico University did well in the poll and placed fifth, after a season which was capped by its first postseason game of the NCAA Division II era.

"It's an exciting time," said head coach Josh Lynn. "We take pride in our ground attack and what we do both offensively and defensively. We are excited about the energy of the school with the new stadium and we are ready to go"

Texas A&M-Commerce was chosen to repeat as league champions, while Midwestern State was picked as the runner up. Angelo State was chosen third, and West Texas A&M edged the Greyhound for fourth by a single vote. Texas A&M-Kingsville was picked sixth and followed by Tarleton State.
