LAS VEGAS, NM —
Coley Norcross and
Omer Almog registered strong performances on Saturday, to pace the Eastern New Mexico University cross country teams to second-place finishes. The New Mexico Highlands University Cross Country Jam marked the second competition of the season for the Hounds.
The Greyhound women earned 44 points and finished behind Colorado College's 33 point total. NMHU took third with 48 points. The Greyhound men earned 63 points to finish behind South Plains (17 points). Colorado College (73 points) and New Mexico Highlands (81 points) placed third and fourth, respectively.
Almog's fourth-place finish in the 8k run came at 25:22. He edged Benjamin Ronoh from South Plains College by more than 30 seconds. Almog was the lone runner in the top six that was not competing from meet champions South Plains.
Garrett Meyer and
Lorenzo Juarez finished 12
th and 13
th at 27:01 and 27:26, respectively.
Norcross time of 19:59 earned a fifth-place finish. She edge NMHU's Natalie Marrujo by just six seconds.
Abby Kepfer and
Mason Swanson placed eighth and ninth with times of 20:28 and 20:38, respectively.
The Eastern New Mexico University cross country teams will return to action on Friday, September 29
th, for the New Mexico Junior College Invitational.
